why did the Sheriff accompany Robin to the Sherwood forest?

Many men joined him in his fight against injustice. Robin's father, Sir Robert of Locksley, was imprisoned by the Sheriff of Nottingham because he could not pay his taxes. Robin saw that this was happening everywhere. He wanted King Richard to return and rule the country fairly again.
