‘The Slave’s Dream’ is a poem by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807 – 1882).
The slave was dreaming of his native land by the river Niger. The green palm trees on the plains and caravans moving down the mountain road. In his dream, he saw his wife and children, as they kissed his cheeks and held his hands.
The dream made him cry as he was a slave now and far away from his native land.
