Why did the swallow decide to stay under the Statue of happy Prince at night? (question from the lesson "The Happy Prince" by Oscar Wilde)

The Swallow was going to Egypt but the Happy Prince persuaded him to stay for a night to help the poor, so the swallow decided to stay under the Statue of the Happy Prince.

becoz he was filled with pity when he saw that the happy prince is giving away his precious things and the happy prince requested the swallow 2 stay one night long so the swallow spended one more night longer with him....
