Why did the Talukdars and the landlords collect high rent from the small peasants? The landlords are too Indians, and they should realise that due to the fact that the British were collecting high taxes, the small peasants could not pay the taxes. Even if benefits we're given to the Landlords, they should have denied them, if there was truly a feeling of nationalism among the Indians.

The talukdars and landlord although being an Indian collects high rent because Britishers would punish them similarly they were doing with other small people. They were also family men. And in India u know family is first ever since the culture is established so they decided to praised the britisher in order to save their family from those cruel and their cruelty. Also if they refused to support Britishers they would change them with other people who wouldn't raise their voice against them.
But later they too participated in national movement along with peasants when they felt that now it's high time and the Britishers should go back inorder to free their country and future Generation.
Although exception are everywhere but majority of people favoured their country later on over their family for bright future of country and family too.
