In the 1980’s South Africa was a victim of the United Nations’ wrath. There was a lot of apartheid in the country since the country began being ruled by the National power party in 1948. In the 1960s an arms embargo was enacted by the United Nations followed by an oil embargo in 1973 by OPEC nations. This did not help and the United Nations enacted sanctions to bring about the end to the apartheid regime.
