The American Civil War broke out and cotton supplies from the US were cut off, thus raw cotton exports from India increased. As a result the weavers suffered from a shortage of raw cotton.

1) Their exposed market collapsed and the local market shrank, being glutted with Machester imports.Produced by machines at lower cost,the imported cotton goods were so cheap that Weaver could not easily compete with them.

2) By 1860s, Weavers faced another problem they could not get sufficient supply of raw cotton of good quality.

3) As raw cotton exports from India increased prices of raw cotton short up.Indian Weavers were starved of supplies and forced to buy raw cotton at very high price.In such a situation weaving industries could not survive.

4)By the end of 19th century weavers and craft person faced yet another problem factories of India began production and the market began to be flooded with machines goods.This again posed a problem before the weavers.
