The Munich agreement, in which Germany is able to expand their power and territory, was meant to satisfy the Germans appetite for land that was taken away from them after World War I.Western democracies adopted a policy of appeasement in response to Germany's aggression. Many were willing to make concessions to maintain peace. It only made Hitler bolder and he took over Austria. He made a pledge later on but chose to ignore after 1939 and took over what was left of Czechoslavakia.
