Answer :

In the chapter 'Around a Medicinal Creeper,' Mara went to the forest to get some Bamboo shoots and accidentally cut his hand. The wound was bleeding profusely and someone pressed a leaf against the wound and bandaged it with some cloth. After this, Mara went to the white man for the proper dressing and treatment of his wound. When the white man of  Hulihindalu removed the leaf from the wounded area, he was surprised to see that there was  no sign of any wound or blood. He did not believe Mara and started scolding him and was only pacified when he saw his blood stained clothes.

The white man and Mara had accidentally discovered the miraculous properties of the medicinal creeper. The white man offered the entire plantation to Mara if he could show him the plant from which he plucked the leaf. However, despite searching for the medicinal creeper the entire day they could not locate it.
