why did Tommy call the printed book as waste?​

Because the book seemed to be very old and the book wasn't a telebook.The words didn't move .They could see the same text when they turn their page back.

So ,Tommy thought that book was waste because if that book was read once , we would already know the text and it would be a complete waste.
