The troops killed hundereds of protestors as there struggle was to block Military Advance towards Tiananmen Square. Death toll of civilians ranged between 180 to 10,454.


The Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 also known as Mainland China were demonstrations led by students in Beijing.  It was more likely the national movement which got inspiration from Beijing protest.


 Martial law was declared by the state government to put an end to the protests.
