The story "The Case of the Sharp Eyed Jeweller"  is written by Nicolas Bentley.

William Morris is the protagonist of the story and he owns a jewelry shop. Miss Susskind was the only assistant in the store.

One day, a man 35 - 40 years old came and asked to show him a few rings. However, Morris came to know soon that the man did not have much idea about the rings and any kind of antique jewelry because the man was judging the rings on the basis of its price. He then selected an old 17th-century flower ring which was heavily prized. But within a few minutes, the ring went missing.

Soon, a woman in a yellow coat comes over to get her chief bracelet repaired. Morris had seen the lady a while ago near the shop's window. William felt suspicious that a girl would spend so much money at their store only to get the bracelet repaired especially when everyone knew that the store did not repair broken stuff. She had already stolen the flower ring which the American had previously stuck under the table by a chewing gum.

Miss Susskind was a vigilant assistant who understood the signs of William Morris and foiled their plan. Mr. Morris then warned the lady and asked her to return the ring. She refused at first but later gave back the ring.
