Why didn't Dhoni stand and applaud Ben Stokes’ century when the whole team was seen standing? Is this a sign of a lack of team spirit?

Explanation:

MS dhoni has been part of very close matches.Who can forget the match between India and Bangladesh, when Bangladesh couldn’t score 2 runs out of 3 balls.Mushfiqur Rahim and other Bangladesh players had started celebrating their victory even though the match wasn’t finished yet and that celebration distracted them from the main job, ultimately leading to their loss.

Now coming to this match, when Stokes reached the century, 4 runs were still needed to win the match.Majority of players don’t celebrate as it might distract them or affect their concentration as the job is still not finished.

If there is a standing ovation from the whole team, then there is a small break which can distract or can give a feeling of some satisfaction to the player.

That was the reason why M.S. Dhoni didn’t stand but he did applaud Ben Stokes. When Stokes himself celebrated his inning and the whole team stood up, then MS Dhoni also stood up and applauded Stokes’ Inning. When Pune won the match,he was the first one to stand up and applauded Stokes as well as congratulated Smith for the victory.

Talking of Team Spirit,Even after being removed from captaincy without any prior notification and criticism by the team owner’s brother,He is still playing the key role in the team,he is setting the field of the team for most of the times and giving valuable suggestions to Smith.

Answer:

`There is a theory in our camp that Dhoni`s way of playing has always been the same. Even if India can`t win the game, he takes it right to the end to try to make sure that India`s run-rate stays relatively healthy,` Stokes said.

New Delhi: England all-rounder Ben Stokes was baffled by India's run-chasing strategy during their World Cup game last year in which he found Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's approach "mystifying" and saw "no intent" from Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the run chase.
