Why didn't Kashmir join Pakistan after the independence?

Because Kashmir was princely State and as per rule at that time they had to choose either india, Pakistan orindependence. ... So it can be said it was by kind of force integrated to india. On the contrary, kashmir was ruled by hindu ruler and majority population was Muslim. But this ruler even didn't wanted to join india.
