She even wrote few lines about stopping the teasing but then tore the note of the fear of fun Peggy would make of her.

Maddie was not rich as Peggy and suffered from an inferiority complex.

Maddie couldn't ask peggy to stop teasing wanda because peggy was her best friend and she had faith in peggy that she wouldn't never do anything wrong. She was afraid of being laughed at for her poor dresses.
