because they don’t. i attended medical school with 150 other students in my class. there were two that i would trust to make any sort of medical decision on my behalf; and maybe another half dozen that i would trust to trim my toenails. and while i admittedly did attend a third tier medical school, i also practiced at an ivy league medical center where incompetence was hardly unknown. assume that your doctor is an ignoramus until proven otherwise and you can’t go too far wrong.
