The British came to India as they discovered the cheap raw materials India produced such as the spices, cotton, scents, vegetable colors.

There trading company did not benefit the Indian economy because:

(i) The products were available in cheap prices.

(ii) India was not introduced to the international market.

(iii) Indians had limited resources.

(iv) India faced a political unrest.

(v) Merchants were not directly connected, the emperors gained the profit.

(vi) British were getting involved in the Indian politics.
