different people need to play different roles as part of criminal justice system because one person cannot perform the functions of all the key people of criminal justice system there are 4 key people they are -
police
Public Prosecutor
defence lawyer
judge
they all have different activities to perform in order to give a fair trial and to give justice to people.
work of police is to investigate the case and collect the evidences and witnesses
work of public prosecutor is to go through the evidences and show that the person is guilty

work of defence lawyer is to go through the evidences and to save the person on which the FIR or case is filed
after listening to the witnesses and seeing the evidences the judge decides whether the person is at guilt or not and if the person is innocent then he will not be given any punishment but if the person is guilty then the judge will decide that what punishment is to be given to that person

I hope this will help you thanks
