Why diffusion is faster in gases than in liquids?

As molecules in gaseous states are relatively very free and far and they can easily move from one place to another making it simple for easy diffusion.

The particles of gases are far apart from each other and thus the inter mixing of molecules i.e. diffusion is faster in gases than in liquids.
