why diffusion is insufficient for multicellular organisms

This helps for the higher animals like humans to meet the sufficient oxygen requirement. Unlike unicellular organisms, multicellular cells are not in direct contact with the outside environment. Therefore, diffusionsimply cannot meet their oxygen requirements.
