Why digestion described as both mechanical and chemical process??

Digestion is a-
Chemical process because it involves digestion or breakdown of food using enzymes which are chemicals.

Mechanical process because it involves churning motion of the muscles of the stomach,peristalsis movement of the alimentary canal etc.
