Acids dissociate to produce ions which in turn increase conductivity. ... Adding an acid makes the waterconduct electricity. Assuming that distilled water is being in the experiment, which is a non conductor of electricity we need to make the water conduct electricity for electrolysis to occur. Hence the acid is added

Hey buddy..
Here's is ur answer ^_____^.
✔This is becoz pure water is very waekly ionised and by this ression they does not conduct electricity very well . Soo by the help of dilute acid the conductivity of water is increased and the thereby the speeds up the process of electrolysis.
Dear:) hope its helps ☺
