It should tell you something that the only country in the modern world that practices direct democracy is Switzerland, which is a relatively small country.

Direct democracy is not possible today because it is not physically possible for all the people to come together at a place and take decision.
Moreover everyone do not have have the time and ability to come and take part in decision making.
