why distance of the stars in terms of light year not in km

Bcoz the distance between the earth and the stars are so far that the cannot be expressed in km. That's why distance of stars is measured in light year not in km.

because the distance is tooooooo long so they are in terms of light year. one light year is equal to the distance travelled by light in one year
