Why do Acids don't show acidic behaviour in absence of water?

acidic nature of a substance is due to the formation of H + ions in solution. Hydrogen ions are produced in the presence of water. The separation of h + ions form acid like HCL molecule cannot occur in the absence of water. So acids do not show acidic behaviour in the absence of water.

The acidic behaviour of acid is due to presence of hydrogen ions, H+(aq) ions. The acid produce hydrogen ion only on dissolving in water. In absence of water ,acid do not produce hydrogen ions and hencedo not show acidic behaviour.
