why do acids not show acid behaviour in the absence of water?​

Acids don't show acidic property in the absence of water bcoz they have strong bond between them so their ions are not free.

the acids show acidic behaviour  due to the presence of hydrogen ion .. with absence of water they don't show because hydrogen ion don't get produced without water....
