why do acids not show acidic behaviour in absence of water? class 10 question​

The acidic behaviour of acid is due to the presence of hydrogen ions. The acids will not show its acidic behaviour in the absence of water, because acids don't dissociate to produce H+ (aq) ions in the absence of water.
