M(s) + NH3(l) --------> M+(NH3)x + e(NH3)y
alkali metals on dissolving in liq. ammonia foms ammoniated metal ion amd ammoniated electron. the blue colour of solution is due to ammoniated electrons and conductivity due to both ammoniated metal ion and ammoniated electron.
