On comparing electronegativity, carbon is more electronegative than hydrogen. ... Alkyl groups have a +ve Inductive effect because it can easily loose its electrons to carbon atom along a chain of carbon atoms. Such groups are said to be electron releasing group with a +ve Inductive effect.
