why do all metal pieces get polished before the experiment

all Metal get police before the experiment because there is a layer of magnesium carbonate and oxides and other substances which low our reaction that's why we polish metals before experiment

Because of most metal oxidize. That might mean there is a thin coat of metal oxidize on the out side if it was metal. Ot must be removed.
