Animals ((nocturnal) and some of the diurnal )don't have the capacity to accept the light ,instead of absorbing the light they seem like emitting light the reason behind this is:
Some of the animals eyes, when light hits their eyes the light beams instead of falling on the photo receptor(which sometimes acts like a transparent glass in some animals) sometimes instead they are directed towards the TAPETUM LUCIDIUM which now acts as the reflecting surface and tries to send the light rays back to the photo receptor so that the light is absorbed by that part which in turn is sent to the brain as signal which forms the image
