The breathing rate of aquatic animals is faster than that of terrestrial animals because the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water in much less than the amount on land, so they have to breathe more in order to get more oxygen.

Aquatic animals breathe faster than terrestrial animals because as oxygen is very less dissolve in water they take oxygen in dissolve form as terrestrial animals take oxygen directly from the environment so aquatic animals breathe rate is much faster than terrestrial animals.
