bcoz when halides are exposed to moist air they form halogen acids
so they fume
like for eg
BeCl2+2H2O->Be(OH)2+2HCl
so they fume
like for eg
BeCl2+2H2O->Be(OH)2+2HCl

Beryllium halides on exposure to moist air undergo hydrolysis to form halogen acids. As a result, these halides fume in air....
