why do birds sitting on an electric wires don't get a shock?

The copper in electrical wires is a great conductor. Birds are not good conductors. That's one reason they don't get shocked when they sit on electrical wires. The energy bypasses the birds and keeps flowing along the wire instead.

Because they sit on only one electric wire and not on two. So, they don't get shock. If they come is contact with two electric wires simmultaneously, then they will get shock.
