Britishers came to India for trade but later when they saw the disunity of Indian rulers they thought to make India as their colony.

British came to india to control it. Britishers wanted to use the resources of india and sell it to other countries.For example- they controlled our army,indigo plantations,textile factories for their own benefits. Their main idea was to divide and rule so that they could take power easily in india.
Also,they thought they could develop India by making people educated and introducing modern ways .
