because they don't have to lose waters(transpiration) so they have modified their leafs into spines like theory of modification of human species along with the factors.

Hope it helps you

devikrishna60: Yes that's true........because cactus are found in desert where temperature are very hot that it is really difficult to survive,....so to much water is taken during the process of transpiration ..so cactus's leaves are modified into spines so that it is reduced..
anmolgoel19112pd91yd: no mate less water or i should say atmost no water is given out by cactus
anmolgoel19112pd91yd: as it has thick cuticle
anmolgoel19112pd91yd: so water cannot escape out of it
anmolgoel19112pd91yd: now you got it?
devikrishna60: Yes thanks

Cacti have spines instead of leaves as these plants grow in deserts, spines are in plants for storing water for self use.

Hope this is helpful to you.
