Carbon Dioxide do not allow heat to go away from the earth because it accumulates in the atmosphere.. And covers a large portion of it..
And, the main reason is that it is..
A bad conductor of heat..
That's why, the temperature of the earth rises due to increase in carbon excretion and leads to the phenomenon termed as..
GLOBAL WARMING..
Hope it helps..

Heya !!!

Here's your answer !!!

Carbon dioxide is one of the green house gases...

When sunlight reaches the outermost layer of the atmosphere , clouds and gases reflect about one-fourth of the incoming radiation, and absorbs some of it...

Almost half of the incoming solar radiation falls on the earth's surface and heats it up, while a small portion is reflected back....

The earth's surface reflects heat in the form of infrared radiation but part of this doesn't escape into space as atmospheric gases (Carbon dioxide ,etc) absorb major portion of it...

The gas molecules radiate heat energy , and a major part of which again comes back to Earth's surface, thus heating it up once again...
This is called Green house effect...

Increase in the level green house gases (Carbon dioxide , etc ) has led to considerable heating of the Earth leading to global warming....

Hope this helps you :)
