carbon monoxide causes adverse affects to human body by combining with hemoglobin to form carboxyhemoglobin (HbCO) in the blood. This prevents hemoglobin from carrying oxygen to the tissues.
if you breath in carbon monoxide it sticks to your hemoglobin and takes up all of the oxygen binding sites.
