why do caterpillars need to shed their skin

because caterpillars are invertebrates ,they have exoskeleton they will get signals by releasing juveline hormone to get rid that exoskeleton

The skin of a caterpillar never grows larger so when a caterpillar gets too big for its skin the skin comes off with another skin underneath.Human skin grows so we don't have this problem.
