Why do children cured by enzyme replacement therapy for adenosine deaminase dificiency need periodic treatment?

This is because even though the child's problem is solved for a little amount of time as the enzyme Adenosine De-Aminase helps in maturing of the immune cells, the child's body will run out of it over time as it lacks the gene required to synthesize the enzyme and it will be degraded over time.
