Copper is a highly reactive metal which forms copper ll oxide when in contact with air. Copper(II)oxide is black in colour thus copper vessels lose their shine when exposed to air.

When Cu vessl left in air its layer react with moist carbondioxide. This result in change in colour (brown to green). Therefore copper vessel loses its shining.
