Covalent compounds have weak forces of attraction between the binding molecules. Thus less energy is required to break the force of bonding. Therefore covalent compounds have low melting and boiling point.

Answer:

Covalent bonds are formed by mutual sharing of electrons. Hence the covalent bonded molecules have strong bonds within the molecule.

However, the intermolecular forces among different molecules are very weak. Hence, they have low melting and boiling points..
