unlike the other people who were horrified on looking at Derry Mr lamb did not show any dislike or horror. This surprised him. He also found it strange that even though the old man himself was handicapped he lived happily. He had a zest for life and encourage him he made him aware of his strength and the importance of not pitying oneself.

Mr.lamb was finding life even on the shrubs .he hears the bees singing finds life on the weeds. And does not close his door and let the people come in his garden. In this way he become peciluar to derry.
