the refractive index of a particular medium is different for different wavelengths. the refractive index decreases for increasing wavelengths. high refractive index means more bending of a ray of light. for eg red light has the longest wavelength, therefore, the refractive index of the medium is the least for red light & consequently red light deviates the least
