White light consists of 7 component colors and this colours have different wavelenghts and therefore different velocities. This makes them to bend by different angles with respect to the incident beam of light

different colours of white light
bend through different angles with
respect to the incident beam of
light because of the difference in
speed and wave length.
ex:- red has highest wave length ,
so it bends least, whereas blue
has lowest wave length so it bends
the most.
