HI THERE :)

Firstly,

electrons are located in an atom, or one can say, they are a part of the atom.

Now, you need to understand, that for an atom, an electron just doesnt move around that particular atom in any particular path.

Most people think an electron traverses a circular path around the atom, which is partly true but it has its own bounds.

Every atom has different energy levels around it, where an electron cloud is said to exist. This electron cloud is a 3-d space around any atom which visually represents the probablity of finding an electron in that particular energy level. Refer to some pictures online, u'll understand that the atom has may orbitals, 1s,2s ,2p ,3p etc.

and each orbital has a particular shape which represents the probablity of finding an electron in that space.
