Doctors mostly prefer to keep patients on a glucose drip because glucose is nothing but sugar water.. Therefore..it
(a) it helps in keeping the patient hydrated.
(b) helps in replacing lost blood
(c) gives our body essential energy to heal itself..

the reasons why the doctors keep patient on glucose drip after operation are :-
1.since they cannot eat any solid food or liquid food from mouth as they are given anaesthesia which the doctors inject before the operation.
2.since they wont be able to digest the foods given ,so therefore they are on glucose drip.
3.since glucose is the simplest form of carbohydrates,it goes directly in the blood and gets absorbed by the cells of the body giving the person the energy to perform all function of the body ..
