Why do earthworms find it difficult to move on glass?

Worms have little microscopic hairs on their bodies that aid them in locomotion. Glass is an extremely smooth surface in comparison to what worms usually crawl on/in. The glass may also be dry, in which the worm will lose moisture and end up sticking to the glass then dying because it cannot move anymore.

Worms have microscopic hairs on their body for locomotion. Glass is very smooth as compared to the surfaces on which earthworms move. Also, glass is dry which leads to absorption of the moisture on the body of the earthworm. This results in the worm sticking to the glass. Therefore it finds it difficult to move on glass:
