why do eg shells dissolve in dilute hydrochloric acid? answer to be in reference to grade 9 ncert book.

The main component of eggshells is Calcium carbonate, which reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce Carbon dioxide, Water, calcium chloride, and heat. The egg shell is composed of Calcium Carbonate. And CaCo3 reacts with Hcl and thus it gets dissolved.
