Why do farmers grow leguminous plants in between two seasons?

leguminous plants such as pea and soya bean etc . have nitrogen fixing bacteria (rhizobium ) inside thier root nodules that helped in fixing free atmospheric nitrogen . farmers grow leguminous crops to replenish the scarcity of nitrogen into soil because nitrogen is very important for crops
