Answer explanation:

Root nodules of leguminous plants contain rhizobium bacteria in them. The rhizobium bacteria helps in converting atmospheric nitrogen into the form of nitrogen which plants can absorb (nitrates) . Nitrogen abundantly present in the atmosphere cannot be taken by plants directly as it is not water soluble. The rhizobium bacteria makes them water soluble (nitrates). So, farmers grow lemurs and cereals alternatively in the field so that there is no lack of nitrogen.

Hope this helps!
